Everything corporate travellers need to know before arriving
Citizens of 45+ countries enjoy visa-free entry for up to 45 days. All other nationalities can apply for an e-Visa online at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn, typically processed within 3 business days. A single-entry e-Visa costs approximately USD $25.
Yes. Business visas (DN/DL type) can be extended through the Vietnam Immigration Department or via a local sponsor company. Extensions of 30–90 days are typically available and can often be arranged through your hotel concierge or event organiser.
Short-term conference speakers presenting for under 30 days are generally exempt from work permit requirements, but must carry an official invitation letter from the event organiser. Always confirm with your event host or the Vietnamese embassy in your country before travel.
Group business visas require a company invitation letter, passport copies for all delegates, and a completed application form submitted at least 5 working days in advance. Your PCO or event management company can handle group visa applications on your behalf.
Standard customs rules apply. Business equipment such as laptops, cameras, and presentation materials can be brought in freely. Large quantities of promotional materials or exhibition goods may require a temporary import declaration — your event organiser can assist with this process.
October to April is generally considered the best period for events across Vietnam, offering dry and comfortable weather. Hanoi is best visited from September to November and March to May. Ho Chi Minh City is pleasant year-round, with the dry season running November to April.
